Current Graduate Students
Kevin Huang is a Ph.D. student in the Mechatronics and Controls Laboratory at UCLA. His research focuses on robotics, control systems, and human-robot interaction. He is developing an MR-compatible surgical robotic system that integrates MRI imaging, hydraulic actuation, and robot-assisted manipulation to improve the precision and safety of minimally invasive procedures.
Po-Chih Chen is a Ph.D. student in the Mechatronics and Controls Laboratory at UCLA. His research focuses on robotics, control systems, and surgical robot design. He is currently developing a hydraulic MRI-compatible surgical system for hepatic procedures. Before joining UCLA, he led robotic system development at Mantis Robotics and contributed to the iCROSS and iORBIS surgical robotics projects at National Taiwan University.
Shuo-Wu received both his B.S. degree and M.S. degree in Mechanical Engineering from National Tsing Hua University, Taiwan in 2016 and 2017. He is now pursuing his PhD in Mechanical Engineering under Professor Tsao, with his research focused on robotic surgical assistant and control implementation.
Mia received her B.S. degree in Aerospace Engineering from UCLA in 2020 and is now pursuing a PhD in Mechanical Engineering under Professor Tsao.
Omar is pursuing a PhD in Mechanical Engineering under Professor Tsao at the University of California, Los Angeles. His research interests include dynamics and control of MIMO systems.
